Entomology Travel Grants Available for ICE 2012 in South Korea

The Entomological Society of America (ESA) is sponsoring a competition for travel grants to the 2012 International Congress of Entomology (ICE) to be held in Daegu, South Korea this summer.

The competition is open to all ESA members who are undergraduate or graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, or professionals having less than three years of experience.

A total of $60,000 will be distributed for travel awards to ICE 2012, with 22-24 awards of up to $3,000 each.

Funds may be used for airfare, meeting registration, and lodging/living costs during travel.

Although synergistic activities are strongly encouraged, funds may not be used for non-meeting related exspenses (field research or institutional travel).

Federal employees will be asked to show that federal grants are not available to attend the Congress. The grants will be administered through the ESA Student and Young Professionals Committee.

Awards will be based on the scope and importance of the applicants' research presented at the Congress, and how attendance and participation at the Congress will benefit the awardees’ professional work and the science of entomology.

Entomologists who are not current ESA members are welcome to join ESA in order to take part in the competition (for more information, go to http://bit.ly/A4DL3b).
